Elan Artists Speakeasy Party

3.25.2013

I recently was asked to participate in a really fun event with Elan Artists. For those of you who don't know, Elan Artists is a cooperative group of bands, djs, and photographers. They were putting together an event to showcase some of their bands to the wedding industry and clients. The really fun part was that it was a 1920's speakeasy theme. Besides the amazing bands that performed, guests were also treated to other talents of fire eating, burlesque dancing, and the like. The Wythe Hotel in Williamsburg, Brooklyn created the perfect backdrop to the speakeasy vibe with their brick walls, wooden floors, and unique rafters. Rent Patina supplied gorgeous couches, rugs, and tables. As for the flowers, I had a lot of fun creating this look. I used lots of whites, blacks, and burgundys for a sultry, dark look including anemones, hellebores, roses, scabiosa pods, fiddlehead fern, and veronica. I collected some vintage brass vases, bowls, and challises as well as vintage cut glass bud vases. Hobnail mercury glass vases and hurricanes also helped create this vintage look. For some added whimsy, I was able to find a dozen vintage bourbon bottles that I placed around the room as well as some ostrich feathers and brass trays. Thanks again to Elan Artists, The Wythe Hotel, Rent Patina, and of course the uber-talented Chellise Michael Photography for all of these amazing photos.
